G550 crashes when switching between X and virtual consoles

Postby topolinik » Sat Jun 21, 2008 2:14 pm

The subject explains he issue, i'm using the framebuffer support from linux kernel (matroxfb) to get tv out with my g550.
Now, this configuration doesn't allow me to switch between virtual consoles and X server, whenever i try this the desktop freezes and xorg shows no response, it's died. I cannot change console, so i have to reset. This happens with both xorg "official" mga driver, and with yours so i suspect this is a bug in matroxfb module, but i'm not so sure...
What can i investigate? Which configuration/log file is useful to understand the reasons?

Update!
Replacing the video driver from "mga" to "undefined" (xorg then uses "vesa") the switch causes no more corruption, even if matroxfb still remains "under" xorg.
