TV TVOut not supported on P650 when using Linux driver?

This forum is for all Parhelia based cards (Millenium P650, P690, P750, QID, Parhelia 256, APVe, ...) that need the mtx driver to run properly.

TV TVOut not supported on P650 when using Linux driver?

Postby dpocock » Sat Jan 10, 2009 2:44 pm

I found the following post on a German board:

http://www.unixboard.de/vb3/archive/ind ... 15002.html

Basically, in the comment on 04.10.2005, 10:46, it says that Matrox doesn't support the TVOut feature on the P650 when the Linux driver is used. Use the P750 instead.

Has anyone else verified this, or proven otherwise? Is there any firmware update or driver update that will solve the problem?

I have everything wired up as per the diagram in the manual. Matrox splitter cable on the secondary DVI, and HD15 number (1) is used to feed the TVOut adapter cable. All the cables come from shopmatrox.com

Xorg.0.log:

(II) LoadModule: "mtx"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//mtx_drv.so
(II) Module mtx: vendor="Matrox Graphics Inc. - x86_64 - Release v1.4.6 - Mar 12 22:50:04 2008"
compiled for 4.3.0, module version = 1.4.6
Module class: XFree86 Video Driver
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.6

lspci:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. Millenium P650 PCIe (rev 02)

The only result I get is a flicker on my TV when the X server starts.
