Splash screen - blue or purple

Postby Hexagram » Tue Aug 21, 2007 6:15 pm

I understand from other threads and documentation that the color of the splash screen indicates whether or not video acceleration is active. Blue for accelerated and purple for not.

However, my display is old and it isn't clear to me which color the splash screen is (thought I think it is purple). Is there another way to determine if acceleration is active? My adapter is a P650 PCIe x4, the driver is current.

If it helps, I get about 500fps from glxgears.

From a terminal window, run the following:

Code: Select all
$ glxinfo |head -n5

If you see a line that says

direct rendering: Yes

Then acceleration is enabled. If it says

direct rendering: No

Then it is not enabled.
