QID / PCIe MMIO error

Postby sarnold354 » Sat Aug 11, 2007 2:18 am

Hello,

Trying to install a new QID LP PCIe card in a Dell Precision 390.
OS is Redhat kernel 2.6.9-5.ELsmp 64 bit w/ 2 Gig ram.
MTX driver is v1.4.5 64 bit version

The following errors occure trying to start X:

(WW) ****INVALID MEMORY ALLOCATION**** b: 0xefdfe004e00000000 e: 0xefdfe004e7fffffff correcting

(EE) sparse io range (base: 0x3871b68a06 mask: 0xb46f40) doesn't satisfy (base & mask = mask)

(EE) MTX(0): No valid MMIO address in PCI config space

I tried limiting memory to 900M with the mem= kernel parameter but it did not make any difference (changed the addresses).

Anybody seen this one before ?
64 bit or PCIe problem ?

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Scott

This seems to be a problem with your current kernel version, the 64bit
architecture and the 64bit mtx driver et al.

Searching for "No valid MMIO address in PCI config space" with the help
of google reveals some interesting posts describing the problem with larger
PCI address spaces.

Maybe upgrading to a newer kernel version helps? 2.6.9 is a little bit
outdated...

I tried a 2.6.22 kernel, same result.
I will try upgrading to the latest version of Xorg.

Thanks

Hello,

Upgraded to XFree 4.7 and manually setup mtrr's.
Works pretty good now. I am using a 1x3 configuration and the initialization is a little long and funky. I had to explain to the users to wait for the card/driver to finish.

Interesting... Could you please attach one of your current Xorg.0.log files
to your next message? I guess you don't have the old non-working Xorg.0.log
file by hand anymore, do you? It would be interesting to compare these
two logfiles...
