Parhelia APVe in PCIe x16 (x8 electric) slot possible?

This forum is for all Parhelia based cards (Millenium P650, P690, P750, QID, Parhelia 256, APVe, ...) that need the mtx driver to run properly.

Parhelia APVe in PCIe x16 (x8 electric) slot possible?

Postby S. Neuwirth » Sun Jan 07, 2007 10:07 pm

After thinking about going to nvidia, I'm now back to the parhelia (QID or APVe) - the multimonitor handling of the nvidia hardware seems to be far behind matrox.

Currently there is one question left for me: The mainboard has a PCIe x16 slot with only 8 lanes connected (x8). Is the APVe or QID card usable in this slot?

AFAIK, PCIe connectors are downwards compatible, so there shouldn't be
a problem.
I don't have a PCIe x16 slot in my machine (Dell Optiplex GX620) and my
APVe x16 works perfectly.
