This is a listing of currently known bugs with the 1.4.5 mtx driver.

If you think you found a bug and it should be listed here, please open up a
new topic and we'll discuss about it.

  • 1. Switching to framebuffer enabled text consoles doesn't work (fixed in 1.4.6, except for Ubuntu)
  • 2. Textured fonts don't work
  • 3. On 64bit systems the driver doesn't work when your machine is equipped with 4GB or more RAM (fixed in 1.4.6.2)
  • 4. List of feature requests and bug reports for the Matrox drivers (please read!)

1. Switching to text console doesn't work (fixed in 1.4.6)
With 1.4.5, Matrox reintroduced an error with switching back to the text
console when X is running. Currently I'm not sure if this only applies to
vesa framebuffer consoles, so if someone can shed some light on this, please
tell me.

The only way to get your console back is to stop the X server.

1.4.6 seems to fix this issue (at least on my system I can't reproduce it anymore).

With Ubuntu 8.04 (and probably earlier versions too) the usplash software (used for showing the
nice progress bar while your system boots) interacts badly with the Matrox driver. If this bootsplash
is enabled, you can't switch back to the text console.
To disable the bootsplash, edit "/boot/grub/menu.lst" and replace the "splash" option with "nosplash"

2. Textured fonts don't work
OpenGL applications that use textured fonts don't work with the Parhelias
OpenGL implementation as pointed out in the following thread:

3. On 64bit systems the driver doesn't work when your machine is equipped with 4GB or more RAM (fixed in 1.4.6.2)

4. List of feature requests and bug reports (please read)

I compiled a small list with feature requests and bug reports for the current set of Matrox drivers. Please read it and if you have anything to comment, don't hesitate to contact me about that so I can update this list which will directly go to Matrox.
