Hello guys, so i have some same issues like you with my damn matrox pseries P650. I downloaded the official driver from matrox site but when i give it the start it says some things at some files like this:
Installation package v1.4.7

Refreshing ld database
Installing mtx_drv.so ...
Installing v4l_drv.so ...
Installed mtx.ko is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Backing up libGL
Installing 32bits OpenGL library file to /usr/lib/mesa
Installed libGL.so.1.3.0 is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Installing the GLX library file to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions

Installed libglx.so is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Installing the gl.h header file to /usr/include/GL

Installed gl.h is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Installing the glext.h header file to /usr/include/GL

Installed glext.h is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Installing the glx.h header file to /usr/include/GL

Installed glx.h is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Updating library cache

Installing documentation

cp: cannot stat `v4l': No such file or directory
Installing powerdesk

Installed mtxcards is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Installed mtxwizard is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Installed matroxconfig is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Installed libmtxcfg.so is the same file as the installer
version, not installing.

Do you wish to let the installer setup your X config file (y/n)? y

Trying to configure your X config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf)

Installation finished

and when i reboot it says that can\t load some drivers..etc...and it changes my xorg.conf file name so i can log in linux. by the way i have ubuntu 10.04 and Linux ubuntu 2.6.32-22-generic. i found on your site that is an, unofficial driver i tried with that driver. The unofficial coulden't compile the mtx.ko here is the error
Installation package v1.4.6.1

Refreshing ld database
Installing mtx_drv.so ...
Installing v4l_drv.so ...
Messages are being logged in file /tmp/make.log,
this might take some time.

Compiling mtx.ko ...
ERROR: There has been an error compiling the kernel module.
A log file has been created in the file /tmp/make.log

So if anyone has an idea it will be great. thanks and excuse my english :)
