G450 dual VGA freeze

Postby usr_local » Sat Mar 01, 2008 7:34 pm

Everything worked well under slackware 11. Now up to Slackware 12.0. X -version returns 1.3.0. I install driver from this forum. It said my version not found, will install latest. Everything works with dual head on dual monitors( Screen1 RightOf Screen0) When i move the mouse to screen1, system freezes, can't ctrl+alt+backspace or anything ? can you help? thank you in advance.

I just finished a re-install of slackware 11 X version 6.9.0. Installed the drivers from the Matrox site, just as before and, the same thing is happening. I don't understand. This is a different machine that I have the card in from the original slackware 11 install that worked beautifully. Please help if you can.

Ok, still trying. I changed the mouse protocol from "auto" to "PS/2" and now the mouse moves to screen1 (visible) then the system freezes. Aarrrrrrrggghhh!

This has to be a protocol or, mouse driver issue. if I change the protocol in xorg.conf, something different happens every time. I'll post this to xorg for help.

Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't able to dive in there earlier.

That sounds weird... Can you see something relevant in your logfiles, e.g. /var/log/Xorg.0.log or /var/log/{dmesg,kern.log,...}?
If you've already opened a bugreport for Xorg, please post the link to this bugreport here too.
